General Questions

How do I get to the greenhouse?

You use your preferred maps service to get you to 2328 Sloans Mill Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020, and then spot our large white sign with our name on it!

In your last mile, keep a lookout. We have a large white sign installed near the entrance of the greenhouse. There is a gravel entrance that leads to our parking lot where we request that you and your guests park parallel to the road (passenger door toward the road and driver door to the greenhouse) to allow the maximum number of cars in the parking lot.

Do you have power/outlets?

Yes, we have power outlets inside and outside of the building, allowing you to expand beyond the structure itself.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, furry family members are welcome too! We just ask that you have them on a leash, clean up any messes they make, and keep them off of the furniture to prevent damage.

Is the greenhouse wheelchair accessible?

Yep! We have made efforts to have our space available to everyone. We do use gravel leading up to the front door, inside the greenhouse, and as the “ramp” to get onto our deck, so it does have a small lip that will be there.

For those needing a shorter distance to travel on foot, please let us know and we can give directions on how to drive down closer to the building.

Can I bring food and drinks?

We are perfectly happy to allow food and drinks in and around the greenhouse as long as you clean up after yourself.

Smash cakes, champagne sprays, and the like are fun but please keep them outside of the main building unless you have explicit permission from us. We are trying our best to keep unwanted bugs and animals out of the building along with keeping the space clean for the next person to rent the space.

I’d hate to fight for a toddler’s attention during a family photo session when there is cake all over the floor from the previous photographer. That would spread bad vibes faster than disturbing a bee hive.

Is there a bathroom available?

We have an ADA (handicapped) porta-potty at the edge of the parking lot as you walk down the path to the greenhouse.

Is there somewhere to get ready?

No, we do not have anywhere to get ready. We do have a handicapped porta-potty available though, and it is large enough to change outfits in if needed.

Can I get into the greenhouse before my time starts?

No, you cannot access the grounds (outside of the parking area) before your appointment time, and it is a hard stop at the end. If you arrive early or stay past your appointment time (even by 5 minutes) in or around the greenhouse, you will be charged for an additional half hour. All setup, photographing/event celebrating, breakdown, and clean-up must happen during the time you are booking. Please book your time accordingly.

Can I book an hour and use it for an event?

No. Hourly studio rentals are reserved for only photo sessions.

We are looking into holding events and allowing private events to be held, so do feel free to reach out to us and we can chat about what you have in mind!

Can I hang, attach, or nail any decorations to the building?

No, we are not allowing any outside parties to alter the building in any way.

We do find that suction cups and command strip hooks work really well (all that glass comes in handy!), and the curtain rope can be used to hang/drape things from.

Can I bring sparklers and/or fireworks?

No. Due to the increased fire hazard and risk of injury, we do not allow fireworks of any kind.

Can I bring confetti poppers?

No. We understand how exciting they are and that there are biodegradable options BUT how we work is rentals by the hour. Because there may be another person with time booked right after your explosive session, it could interfere with their experience.

Cleaning up is an option, but because you have to be fully cleaned up by the end of your rental session, I would hate that you spend half the time cleaning.

Is smoking allowed on the property?

Only in the parking lot, and we ask that trash be taken with you and not left behind.

We want our space to be ready and available to be used at any time. Smoking creates lingering smells and too much can create stains and we don’t want to have that.

I broke something, what do I do?

Tell us right away by calling or texting us at 980-819-1117! There are no hard feelings, we know we all are prone to accidents. If you don’t tell us, we won’t know to fix it.

If there are serious damages, you will be financially responsible, but we will work with you to figure out how we can right the wrongs.

If we find that something is damaged, broken, or stolen after your visit and you didn’t tell us about it, you will have to pay for the damages and you will no longer be welcome to our property.

Oops, I made a mess! Should I clean it up?

Yes, please. Just like when you are hiking, we would love you to leave our property looking the same or better than you found it.

If we have to come in be behind you and clean up or reset the room, you will be charged a minimum cleaning fee of $50 (based on how long it takes us to clean it) that must be paid before you can rent our property again.

Something is very wrong and I need to contact you!

If it’s an emergency, call 911, you can talk to us after everyone is safe.

If it’s not an emergency but you still need us in a hurry, you can call or text us at 980-819-1117 for more immediate responses.

What do I do if there is bad weather?

In the case of inclement weather (snow, ice, or severe storms), you may reschedule with no fees. We won’t make you pay for God not providing picturesque weather. Please use the reschedule button in the confirmation email about your rental to find a new time that works for you and we will cross our fingers with you that the weather will play nice then.

How do I reschedule my rental?

Please use the reschedule button in the confirmation email about your rental to find a new time that works for you.

How do I cancel my rental?

We hate that you are no longer coming. Please use the cancel button in the confirmation email about your rental to cancel your rental. You will get a full refund unless you cancel within 48 hours of your rental day.

If you cancel between 24 and 48 hours before your rental, we will hold 50% of your rental as a fee for canceling late and return the remaining 50%.

If you cancel within 24 hours of your rental, we will hold 100% of your payment.

Wedding Questions

Can I hang, attach, or nail any decorations to the building?

No, we are not allowing any outside parties to alter the building in any way.

We do find that suction cups and command strip hooks work really well (all that glass comes in handy!), and the curtain rope can be used to hang/drape things from.

Can I bring food and drinks?

Food and drinks are only allowed during Cocktail Hour, and that is available as an add-on. We also require event insurance for events with a cocktail hour because there are extra liabilities that we will need to be covered for.

We do request that food and drinks stay outside of the building because we don’t want to encourage bugs and animals to come inside the building since cleaning food out of gravel is a huge challenge.

Because the greenhouse is on our personal property, we will be available to help with all events if needed. This also means that if proof of insurance is not provided before the event and we see food or drinks, the event will be canceled immediately and everyone will be asked to leave.

What kind of food and drinks are allowed?

Our venue is intended for ceremonies only and photo sessions, so we intend you to keep it to your cake, finger foods, and a celebratory toast to entertain your guests as you capture pictures of those important to you.

If you wish to host a full meal with catering for your guests, we just request to be provided the caterer’s contact information so that we can coordinate their placement and such as we do not have any food prep space on the property.

What vendors do I need for a wedding/elopement?
  • You will need an officiant (make sure it is acknowledged by the state of NC as an officiant).
  • Two witnesses. This can be family, friends, or your new friends (us).

Beyond that, we suggest a photographer to capture your magical moment!

We are working on putting together vendor lists so once they are created we will share them as soon as we can.

How long do elopements last?

They can last as long as you want. Typically a ceremony lasts between 15 and 20 minutes. We are including enough time that your photographer should be able to squeeze in all the photos you would want into the remainder of the hours provided. Please consult with your photographer on how much time they would need, just to make sure.

What decorations are available?

As we create more and more photography sets, those decorations will become available to rent during elopements on our property. We are currently working on a catalog of items that are available, so feel free to ask us about them during your tour.

If I book my elopement, does that include rehearsal time or bridal portrait time?

No, it does not.

For the size of the weddings we accommodate, we would recommend doing a living room/backyard rehearsal at home to help save time and money.

We would love for you to have bridal portraits done here, but that would have to be booked as a normal studio rental, and then you would have a whole hour to yourself.

How do I pay?

You will receive an email with an invoice based on our conversation during the tour. Half of this has to be paid to lock down your date, and the other half is due 30 days before your event.

Can I or my guests come early?

Yes and No.

Because your event is not all day, there is a possibility someone can have time booked before your event. So yes, you can come early, but no you can not leave the parking lot until your rental time starts.

How quickly do we need to leave?

You have booked a specific time slot on your day and the events of the day have to happen within that time slot. If you or any of your guests are lingering outside of the parking lot after your time ends, you can be charged a Staying Late fee. That would be for every 5 minutes over you will be charged half of our additional hour fee.

What time of day can I have my wedding?

Weddings can be booked at any time of the day. Because they are not full-day events, we are still available for photographers to rent the property before/after weddings.

We do require that all events end no later than sunset though.
