Zinnia Fields

Three colorful zinnia fields that bloom throughout the summer, giving photographers vibrant backdrops for portraits, minis, and family sessions.

A Season of Color at Firefly Haven

Each summer, Firefly Haven becomes home to several vibrant zinnia fields designed specifically with photographers in mind. These colorful blooms create bold, cheerful backdrops for portraits while still leaving room to move through the field and photograph from multiple angles.

To extend the bloom and keep the fields looking their best, we plant three separate zinnia fields that open at different times throughout the summer.

This staggered planting allows photographers to book sessions across multiple weeks while still working with fresh, vibrant flowers.

About the Zinnia Fields

The zinnia fields at Firefly Haven are planted in three separate 50×50 sections, each designed to create a slightly different look for portraits while extending the bloom throughout the summer.

Instead of everything blooming at once, each field opens at a different time — giving photographers more opportunities to schedule sessions while the flowers are fresh and vibrant.

Each field provides space for photographers to move through the flowers, work with natural pathways, and create a variety of images during a single session.

Cactus Pink Shades of Zinnias

Field 1: Cactus Pink Shades Zinnias

The first field to bloom features the striking Cactus Pink Shades variety, known for its long, feathery petals that curl slightly at the edges. These blooms grow up to five inches across and bring beautiful texture and movement to portraits. The field includes a lively mix of pink, yellow, orange, white, and red flowers that create vibrant summer color.

A Full Summer of Color

Because the fields are planted in stages, the zinnia season at Firefly Haven lasts much longer than a typical flower bloom.

Photographers can book sessions across multiple weeks while still working with fresh flowers.

This makes the fields especially popular for:

  • summer mini sessions
  • family portraits
  • couples sessions
  • maternity photography
  • branding sessions

Many photographers return several times throughout the season as new fields open.

Can I host mini sessions in the zinnia fields?
Yes, mini sessions are completely welcome.

When you reserve a field, that time block is yours to use however you’d like, including photographing multiple clients back-to-back. Many photographers book the zinnia fields specifically to run mini sessions throughout their reserved time.

Will other photographers be there during my session?
Possibly — but not in your field.

Each zinnia field is booked separately, which means you’ll have exclusive access to your reserved field during your session. Other photographers may be on the property in different fields, but you won’t be sharing your space or working around other sessions.

When do the zinnia fields bloom?
The zinnia season typically begins in mid to late July, with additional fields opening in the weeks that follow.

Because the fields are planted in stages, the bloom continues well into late summer; giving photographers multiple opportunities to book while the flowers are fresh and vibrant.

What happens if the weather is bad?
If weather conditions aren’t workable, you’re welcome to reschedule your session for another available date.

If you choose to cancel instead of rescheduling, refunds follow our cancellation policy:

  • More than 48 hours before your rental: full refund
  • 24–48 hours before your rental: 50% refund
  • Less than 24 hours before your rental: non-refundable
Can I move between fields during my session?
If multiple fields are open, you’re welcome to move between them as long as they are not reserved by another photographer during your time slot.

If another session is scheduled, you’ll need to remain within your booked field to ensure each photographer has a dedicated space to work.

This approach allows for flexibility when possible, while still protecting the experience for everyone on the property.

Are clients allowed to walk into the flowers?
Yes, clients are welcome to walk into the flowers and interact with the field during the session.

Each booking also includes the opportunity for clients to pick a small handful of stems to create a bouquet, which adds a natural, interactive element to your session.

We do ask that guests stay within designated areas and respect the space so the fields can continue to thrive throughout the season.
